07/03/2007: "The Exploring Isles"

Chaotic Harmony and crew are in the Exploring Isles, Lau group, Fiji. This was our goal when we left Australia a year ago. After a windward battle, a cyclone chase, a few repairs and some exciting sailing we have made it. Why here? The Lau islands have been 'closed' to tourists and yachts for many years. This pristine area has the most spectacular island formations, rich thick jungle, colonial and indigenous fascinating history and superb diving, fishing and bushwalks. And there is still barely anyone here. We intend to be in the Lau are for a month or so. No real agenda, just taking it one day at a time.
It is a time for Chaotic Harmony to reap the rewards of the past years effort and have a holiday from our holiday. Sailing has all the elements of life involved and it is nice every now and then to slow the pace. To quote Catherine (co-skipper) "A little less drama would be nice"
I will update this with pictures soon. To get online it is a half hour hike with the laptop to the top of the hill at Nabuvatu. The only reason that we have access is that the deposed Prime Minister for Fiji lives in a village about four miles away - and they have installed a mobile tower there. Thanks to all who have contacted us with news from home and support while we have been on the move.
Our email contacts are: docgav@hotmail.com and for messages only to the yacht at VMQ8689@sailmail.com Any news is welcome! Bula vinaka!!
