11/13/2010: "Home to Cairns at last."

Our new racing cat eDoc is finally home. What an adventure getting here. The sail from Cebu in the Phillipines to Cairns, Queensland Australia did not go as planned. The journey was done in three stages, Cebu to Darwin, Darwin to Gove and then Gove to Cairns. We sailed eDoc two handed and I changed crew for each stage. My son Baden did the Darwin-Gove leg and sailing friends the other two. One of the essential ingrediants for successful deliveries is time and flexibility. My plan was Cebu-Palau-Lousiades-Cairns. Unfortuntately we got hammered in the Phillipines Sea and after six days bashing to windward we turn south and shot through Indonesia, cross the Arafura sea and then into Darwin. Then the windward slog continued to Gove, and to Cairns. The only time the wind was favourable was in the channel into Cairns! I know Huey was out there to test me (we have this little competition with the god of wind and waves) so if he could cease and desist now it would be appreciated.
The family are excited. I am excited. This boat is a beast and an absolute pleasure to sail.
