Sometimes it is easier to start afresh. I initially planned to conserve what wiring I could, replacing instruments and try to salvage what might still have some life. After many frustrating hours attempting to find the faults after a million volt electromagnetic pulse, I had a ‘stuff it’ moment and just pulled the lot out leaving only a mouse cable line.
And thus the rewire has begun. It’s exciting opening a new instrument box, still exciting reading the installation manual, a bit less exciting trying to retro fit in areas not initially designed for the new size or shape and a tad wearying running cables back through tight little passages in bilges, floor and roof lining.
