All shiny and new

edoc (86k image)
After two weeks on the slip dodging rain squalls and working into the dark sanding and painting and sanding and painting, eDoc is now labelled and shiny. The slipping went less than perfect as we had a flowing tidal current, cross winds and a single outboard that does not steer to get out with. As a result I have a small ding to repair on the stern... At least now I am not paranoid about the new paint job, the first scratch was done within the first hour of launching!

Sanding, sanding, sanding

topgunside (97k image)
It has taken a few months but Catherine has come around to agreeing that selling Chaotic Harmony and buying eDoc (aka 'atmosphere'/Top Gun) was a good idea. When we were cruising with the kids at a younger age they travelled with us and were not heavily involved in the actual sailing work. They helped, but did not take responsibility. They are now of the age that they can sail. So this is the opportunity to really let them sail!!!! Racing has the impact of making you go where comfort and sense might suggest otherwise. In doing this you push boundries, both emotional and physcial. A big, fast, powerful cat will do this to you.

400,000 tonne lift for 4 tonne boat...

topgun (132k image)
I doubt eDoc has been lifted out like this before. Cairns has a massive ship travelift that can take vessels up to 10m wide. We just make it. The work starts now. The goal is to repaint the hulls and change the signage but the opportunity will be there to do lots of other work while on the hardstand. The working crew will be Baden and Gavin. Capably supported on the home front by Catherine who keeps our world moving while we get bogged down in sanding (literallY)
